Falls Church Parking Restrictions on the Fourth of July

Best bet: Walking or metro.

Parking will be restricted within City limits near George Mason High School so that emergency vehicles can use residential streets. From 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 4, the following streets will have parking restricted to one side of the street only:

  • Grove Ave.
  • Birch St.
  • Spruce St.
  • Offut Dr.
  • Falls Ave.
Metro and Walking are Your Best Bets
The best ways to get to the high school for the celebration are the West Falls Church Metro or walking. Drivers are reminded to heed towing warnings in shopping centers and business parking lots; towing is usually enforced by the property owners or businesses. Parking is also not allowed along Broad Street/Route 7/Leesburg Pike, Haycock Road, and other major arteries in the area.

July 4th Celebrations in the City
  • Independence Day Readings of the Founding Documents of the Nation: Noon in Council Chambers, City Hall (300 Park Ave.). Hosted by the Village Preservation and Improvement Society (VPIS), this annual event allows us to focus on the meaning of Independence Day with a review of the issues of the times and the reading of the important documents that created the basis for our democracy and freedom.

  • Celebration, Music, and Fireworks: George Mason High School (7124 Leesburg Pike). Seating is available at Jack Gambill Athletic Fields and the Northern Virginia Graduate Center Parking Lot. Music performed by The Original Moonlights starts at 7 p.m. and fireworks start at 9:20 p.m. Blankets and flat-based chairs are allowed for seating on the field. Food and drinks will be sold on site, but alcohol, smoking, fireworks, and pets are not permitted. In the event of rain, the celebration will be held on July 5 at the same location and time. Sponsored by the City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks; for more information, call 703-248-5178 (TTY 711).
