Falls Church Police: String of 'Smash and Grab' Car Break-Ins

Crime report also shows arrests last week in City for DUI, public drunkenness, marijuana violations and prescription fraud.

Falls Church saw a strong of "smash and grab" car break-ins last Thursday night, according to City of Falls Church Police in their latest crime report (Monday, Jan. 27-Sunday, Feb. 2).

In all, five vehicles had windows smashed in and property taken from the vehicle.

  • Larceny from Motor Vehicle, 100 block Spring Ct. On Jan. 27, an unknown suspect broke a car window and stole petty cash sometime overnight.
  • Larceny from Motor Vehicle, 600 block Jackson St. On Jan. 27, an unknown suspect broke a car window and stole jewelry sometime overnight.
  • Larceny from Motor Vehicle, 100 block Spring St. On Jan. 27, an unknown suspect broke a car window and stole petty cash sometime overnight.
  • Larceny from Motor Vehicle, 100 block Spring Ct. On Jan. 27, an unknown suspect broke a car window and stole petty cash sometime overnight.
  • Vandalism to Vehicle, 100 block S. Spring St. On Jan. 27, an unknown suspect smashed a window. No items were taken.
  • Prescription Fraud, 201 N. Washington St. (Kaiser Permanente) On Jan. 28, a 51-year-old DC man was arrested for two counts of Prescription Fraud which occurred that day. He also served three additional warrants of prescription fraud related to events that occurred on Dec. 13.
  • Public Drunkenness, 167 Hillwood Ave. (Virginia ABC Store) On Jan. 29, a 62-year-old man of Washington, DC, was arrested for Public Drunkenness.
  • Public Drunkenness, 220 N. Washington St. (State Theater) On Feb. 1, a 25-year-old man of Washington, DC, was arrested for Public Drunkenness.
  • Narcotics Violation, 306 Hillwood Ave.  (Lesly’s Restaurant) On Feb. 1, a 37-year-old man of Arlington, was arrested and released on summons for Possession of Marijuana. 
  • Public Drunkenness, 220 N. Washington St. (State Theater) On Feb. 2, a 53-year-old man of Fairfax, was arrested for Public Drunkenness.
  • Driving Under the Influence, 1000 block E. Broad St.  On Feb. 2, an officer conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation. The driver, a 30-year-old man of Alexandria, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.
  • Narcotics Violation, 400 block W. Broad St. On Feb. 2, a 36-year-old man of the City of Falls Church, was arrested and released on summons for Possession of Marijuana.
