Police Search Warrant Wednesday Closes Down Grove Avenue

No immediate danger to the public, according to City of Falls Church.

A Falls Church street was closed Wednesday for about an hour while police conducted a search warrant in the area.

At 4:19 p.m., the City of Falls Church sent a message out to notify the public that Grove Avenue was closed between Spruce and N. West streets.

The city noted that the closure was due to police activity in the area but that the general public was not in any danger. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes.

At 5:10 p.m., an all-clear sign was sent out, stating that the road was open.

Police did not provide specific information on the nature of the search warrant. A search warrant is a court order issued by a judge authorizing police to conduct a search for evidence of a crime and to confiscate evidence if it is found.
