A JEB Stuart High School student is charged with carrying a weapon on school property and reckless discharge of a weapon following an incident Tuesday.
Ofc. Eddy Azcarate, a spokesman with Fairfax County police, said the 14-year-old male was released to his parents.
Police did not release any court information.
Administrators at the school and Fairfax County Public Schools could not say if the student will be disciplined for bringing a BB gun to school.
Police arrived at the school around 11 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a student with a gun. Officers searched the school and found the 14-year-old in possession of a BB gun. No one was hurt and the teen was taken into custody without incident.
