One Man Arrested in Merrifield Bank Robbery, Fairfax County Police Looking for one More

Bank robber awaiting extradition to Fairfax County sitting in Prince George's County jail.

Fairfax County police have identified one of the two men who held up a Merrifield bank on Monday.

William L. Cole, 38, of Fort Washington, Md. was arrested by Prince George’s County police and has been identified as one the men wanted for Monday’s bank robbery. Cole is awaiting extradition back to Fairfax County, police said.

A second man, black with a medium build and wearing a light colored shirt and blue jeans, is still on the lam. County police said the man may have dreadlocks or may have been wearing a wig at the time of the robbery.

The two men walked into the BB&T Bank at 8416 Arlington Blvd. at about 2 p.m. Monday, displayed guns and demanded money, police said. The two men fled with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured.
