Police: Falls Church Area Man Dies After Nov. 3 Motorcycle Crash

Man died Friday, Nov. 8, police said Tuesday afternoon.

A 20-year-old Falls Church area man has died of injuries he suffered in a crash Sunday, Nov. 3, near the City of Falls Church in Fairfax County, Fairfax County Police said Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded to the report of a crash shortly after 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Leesburg Pike and Patterson Road in Fairfax County near the City of Falls Church.

A 34-year-old, Falls Church man was driving his 1997 Ford Expedition east on Leesburg Pike and started making a left-turn into the shopping center at Patterson Road.

A 34-year-old female and a 4-year-old female were passengers in the Expedition. Israel Ibarra de la Cruz was traveling west on Leesburg Pike on his 2013 Suzuki motorcycle. The driver of the Expedition, Santos A. Perez, turned in front of the motorcycle, causing the collision.

Ibarra de la Cruz was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he died Friday, shortly after 4 p.m.

The two female passengers in the Expedition were not injured.

Perez was not injured. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with DWI.

The investigation continues and additional charges are possible.
