Standoff Suspect to Appear in Court Wednesday

James Rackowski, the man who during a standoff in June, will make his first appearance in court Wednesday morning. He is facing a single charge of discharging a firearm within a building.

Rackowski, 57, barricaded himself inside his family’s home at 603 Hillwood Ave. during the ordeal that included officers from the City of Falls Church, Arlington and Fairfax counties and Alexandria.

The standoff ended when police hit a gasoline-soaked Rackowski with a Taser. He was rushed to a hospital afterwards with non-life threatening injuries.

Rackowski is a graduate of and George Mason University university.
