Surveillance Video Help Police Nab Cross-Dressed Sexual Assault Suspect

Police on Friday arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in March in a Falls Church parking lot while he was cross-dresssed.

Carlos Guillermo Suarez Diaz, 46, of Falls Church, was charged with a count of misdemeanor sexual battery and released on a summons. He s scheduled to appear in Falls Church Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for arraignment on May 14.

Tips from residents and video images from area businesses led to the arrest, according to a news release.

Diaz is accused of groping a 17-year-old woman on March 13 in the 100 block of East Broad Streeet while wearing black shorts, high heels, a black handkerchief to cover his mouth and a black wig with red and golden highlights. The woman did not report the incident until March 21.

Diaz asked to take a photograph of the woman, whom he approached in the parking lot, and she consented, police said. During the time he was taking the woman’s photograph, he is accused of touching her inappropriately.

The woman told Diaz to stop and ran away, according to the news release.
