What you can do ahead of time to make sure a thief can't use your phone.

It's a common site: People lined up at Starbucks to grab a latte on the way to work, perusing news, emails or texts on their iPhones.

Last Thursday, a young woman forcefully grabbed an iPhone out of a patron's hands and fled from the Starbucks in Falls Church, according to a report from the City of Falls Church Police.

Here's the police report:

Strong Armed Robbery, 1218 W. Broad St. (Starbucks) On Oct. 3, an unknown suspect grabbed an iPhone from the victim’s hand by force and fled the area. The suspect is described as a black female, approximately 20 years old, 5’5” tall, with a medium build. 2. Set up "Find my iPhone"
3. Deactivate the phone with your wireless provider
4. Report the theft to police.

You can also ask your carrier about their insurance plan.
