A 65-year old woman was stabbed in the back on the 4th of July while watching fireworks from a shopping center parking lot in Fairfax County and police are hoping that someone can identify the suspect.

Around 10:25 p.m. Friday, the woman was at a shopping center parking lot at 7129 Leesburg Pike, with a group of friends watching fireworks that were being set off from across the street, at George Mason High School.

An unknown male approached the woman from behind and stabbed her in the upper body, according to Fairfax County Police. The suspect fled on foot and a witness gave chase, but lost sight of him.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her serious but non life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was described as white, possibly 18 to 20 years old, with short blonde hair. He was wearing a white tank top and shorts.

Detectives are hopeful someone in the area may have seen the incident or the suspect and have information. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS, email via a secure link at http://www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org or text "TIP187" plus your tip to CRIMES.

How much did this attacker weigh? With so many people out and about, the weight is very important feature. If he was very heavy, he would stand out. If he was skinny he wouldn't.

I have talked to some locals and some think it is the newly arrived Homeless man that hangs around the shopping center peeking into cars. He also hangs around 7 11 in the early mornings on west broad. It could also be the teen ager from McLean that is missing. I hope they catch this man and lock him away for a long time.
