American Legion and Falls Church GOP to Co-Sponsor Candidates Forum

All candidates on the ballot are invited to participate in this year's forum.

American Legion Post 130 and the Falls Church City Republican Committee will co-sponsor a forum for all candidates on the ballot in Falls Church City on Sept. 19.

All candidates for City Council, School Board, Constitutional Offices and the House of Delegates are invited, regardless of party affiliation. City Council and School Board candidates will discuss whether or not the Falls Church School Board should present and adopt its own budget separately from the City budget developed and approved by the City Council.

According to Falls Church GOP chair Ken Feltman, several school board candidates, all but one City Council candidate, delegates, and two of three constitutional offices will be represented in this forum.

"We invite everyone who is on the ballot, regardless of party," Feltman said "We are all neighbors and that blurs the party lines on local issues. This year, we have four candidates running as Democrats - Steve Bittle, Tom Clinton, Cathy Kaye and Marcus Simon. One is running as a Republican - Brad Tidwell. One is running as a Libertarian - Anthony Tellez."

The forum will take place at 7 p.m. on Sept. 19 at the American Legion Hall, 400 North Oak Street, with an informal 30 minute "meet-and-greet" session in which the candidates will be available to listen to citizens and respond to individual questions.
