With the wintry weather upon us, Patch will keep you updated on what's open, what's closed and what's cancelled. We will update this list as we receive new information.

Falls Church City Public Schools and Fairfax County Public Schools will be closed Friday, Feb. 14 .

The City of Falls Church Government will open on a 2-hour delay Friday for all offices and services, including City Hall, Community Center, Court Clerk, DMV Select, Library, and the Permits Counter. Unscheduled Leave is permitted for employees after checking with supervisor.

The Library's 11am story time is canceled for Friday.

  • On Friday, federal agencies in the Washington, DC, area are OPEN under 2 hours DELAYED ARRIVAL and employees have the OPTION FOR UNSCHEDULED LEAVE OR UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK. Employees should plan to arrive for work no more than 2 hours later than they would be expected to arrive.

All City of Falls Church streets have been treated and plowed and are passable, but please use caution. The City advises the community to stay off the roads so crews can continue to work safely and effectively on snow removal and treatment and plowing with tonight's snow.

Residents and business are reminded to remove snow and ice per City Code (www.fallschurchva.gov/SnowRemoval), especially on sidewalks, around fire hydrants, and in catch basins. Removing snow from catch basins can be critical in preventing localized flooding as the snow melts.

To access the Recreation and Parks Department's list of teens who can be hired for shoveling, call 703-248-5077. Thank you to all residents and businesses who have already cleared snow from their areas.
