Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Ken Cuccinelli will answer a variety of questions from a moderated panel, organizers said. Individuals who want to submit questions for consideration can post them on the alliance's Facebook page, said Adam Waldeck, executive director of the group's southeast chapter.

"We're trying to cover the whole spectrum of energy issues, really from the consumer angle," Waldeck told Patch. "So there will be a lot of discussion about the cost of energy, and what the candidates can do to make sure energy is affordable and reliable for people."

The law school auditorium can seat up to 300. It's at 3301 Fairfax Drive.

The Consumer Energy Alliance supports the Keystone XL Pipeline and more energy exploration in the Atlantic Ocean, according to various reports. It counts energy giants BP and ExxonMobil among its members.
