Falls Church Government to Close for a Second Day

Hurricane Sandy has forced the city government to close Tuesday.

Hurricane Sandy has closed the City of Falls Church government for a second day.

Only essential personnel should report to work Tuesday.

The Falls Church Community Center will be open from 8 a.m. through 10 p.m. Tuesday, Susan Finarelli, spokeswoman for the city, said in a statement Monday night. Recreation and parks programs have been canceled but residents can use the center to play basketball.

There will be no in-person absentee voting Tuesday and the Mary Riley Styles Public Library, which was closed Monday, will be closed tomorrow as well.

If you have experience a power outage, downed tree or need to report a traffic light outage, here are some numbers you can call:

• Power Outages: Dominion Virginia Power, 1-866-DOM-HELP (1-866-366-4357)

• Downed Trees or Power Lines: Police Dispatch, 703-248-5053

Stay away from downed lines!

• Traffic Light Outage: Police Dispatch, 703-248-5053
