UPDATE: The City of Falls Church Registrar's office has announced extended in-person absentee voting hours: Wednesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Vote in the Dogwood Room, G Level, City Hall (300 Park Ave.).
After closing down for two days because of Hurricane Sandy, the City of Falls Church government will reopen Wednesday.
The Mary Riley Styles Public Library will also reopen after a two-day hiatus. The Falls Church Community Center will also remain open for regular business hours.
Times regularly scheduled court will be announced soon.
The city also announced that through Nov. 7 it has waived fees for brush pick up. The city requests residents do the following to prepare both leaves and debris for collection:
- Place brush at the curb; do not obstruct the sidewalks or right-of-ways. Leave the gutter pan clear of all debris.
- Do not combine leaves and limbs. Rake or bag leaves independently from branches and other large yard debris.
- Cut large tree limbs into segments no longer than 5 feet.; brush that exceeds this length requires additional manpower and resources. Smaller debris can be bundled or placed in brown, compostable yard waste bags.
- Leave only vegetative matter for pick-up; this collection is exclusively for tree limbs and brush downed by Monday’s storm. Fee waivers do not apply to special trash collections.
