Fire Saturday Night in Falls Church Sends Firefighter to Hospital

Residents on E. Columbia Street were displaced by fire that caused more than $250,000 in damages.

The Arlington and Fairfax County Fire departments responded to a residential fire around 9 p.m. Saturday in Falls Church that sent one of the firefighters to the hospital.

Firefighters responded to an emergency call in the 500 block of E. Columbia Street in the City of Falls Church.

The residents were home at the time. One received first-degree burns but did not go to a hospital. One Fairfax County firefighter received a laceration and went to Fairfax Hospital for treatment.

The City of Falls Church Fire Marshal has ruled the cause as "undetermined" as of Sunday. Damages are estimated at more than $250,000.

The residents have been displaced for the time being. Updates will be reported as they come.
