FIVE THINGS: Fire Prevention Puppet Show Today

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue will host the free puppet show for kids of all ages today.

1-    Fairfax County Fire and Rescue will host a puppet show, "Matches and Lighters Are For Grown Ups," at 10:30 a.m. at the Thomas Jefferson Library on Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church. The show is free to the public and open to children of all ages.

2-    Through Sept. 27, the city will be repaving streets as well as replacing sections of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters. The work will take place weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A tentative schedule of timing and locations is here.

3-    The City of Falls Church is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection on Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. through 1 p.m. at the Falls Church Recycling Center and Property Yard at 217 Gordon Rd. Click here to see what items are considered hazardous.

4-    The City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department fall brochure is now available and residents can register for a variety of classes and activities for all ages.

5-    If you are celebrating a birthday on Sept. 26, you share it with tennis star Serena Williams, entertainer Olivia Newton John and Russian scientist Ivan Pavlov. Happy birthday!
