FIVE THINGS: Joint Council, Planning Commission Meeting Tonight

Farm Day is coming this weekend in the City of Falls Church.

1-    There will be a joint city council and Planning Commission work session at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall. Here is the agenda.

2-    Farm Day will go from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. Oct. 6 at Cherry Hill Park. The event features blacksmith demonstrations, horse-drawn hayrides, pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, and a petting zoo. Children can learn basic farming skills such as corn shelling, beekeeping, and apple butter making. For more information, click here.

3-    If your child likes playing with Legos, starting at 3 p.m. Monday at the Thomas Jefferson Library in Falls Church, they can help build things with the connectable building blocks. The event is for children ages five and up.

4-    The Thomas Jefferson Library will host a Practice Your English workshop on Tuesday for people trying to learn the language. The workshop starts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

5-    If you are celebrating a birthday on Oct. 1, you share it with comedian and star of “The Hangover,” Zach Galifianakis, former President Jimmy Carter and the late actor Tim Bosley. Happy birthday!
