LAST CHANCE: City Unveils New First-time Homebuyer Program

Program would cover down payment and closing cost assistance up to 20 percent of purchase price.

A new first-time homebuyer program will make it possible for City of Falls Church employees to work and live in the city.

Passed by city council in February, the program will provide down payment and closing cost assistance of up to 20 percent of the purchase price to low and medium income prospective buyers.

Priority is given to people who have lived or worked in the city for six months or longer and to senior citizens and those with disabilities, according to a press release. Applicants must have not owned a home in the last three-years and may not have an income that exceeds 120 percent of the area medium income.
