SPEAK OUT: Did Falls Church City Do Right by Keeping Water Company?

For months, the city tried to sell Falls Church Water and Wednesday, they decided to keep it.

The fate of Falls Church Water was decided Wednesday and ownership won’t go to any of the nine possible suitors who wanted to buy the system. Instead, the City of Falls Church will retain the utility.

For months, the city shopped around the water system and even . After some consideration, the city decided it was best to maintain ownership of the water system that serves Tysons Corner, McLean, Falls Church and Merrifield. The city was most recently in discussions with Fairfax County and Fairfax Water.

In a statement on their website, Fairfax Water said they made earnest efforts to negotiate an agreement with the City of Falls Church that respected the citizens of both Falls Church and Fairfax County.
