Virginia Education Secretary Toured Falls Church Schools Friday

Virginia Education Secretary Laura Fornash toured Falls Church City Public Schools Friday with a contingent from her office.

Javaid Siddiqi, deputy education secretary and Joan Wodiska, president of the Virginia School Boards Association and an FCCPS school board member, FCCPS Superintendent Toni Jones and FCCPS School Board Chair Susan Kearney joined Fornash on the three-hour tour.

Siddiqi said the contingent has toured other school districts around the state. He said the group wanted to see Falls Church public schools firsthand. The group started their tour at George Mason High before visiting Mary Ellen Henderson Middle and Thomas Jefferson and Mount Daniel elementary schools.

“We’re just checking in on the good things happening with FCCPS,” Siddiqi said. “I’m glad we had a chance to stop in and visit with the schools.”
