WEEK IN REVIEW: Two Falls Church Schools Honored

As two area schools are honored as being amongst the top three in Virginia, a church congregation exits its' building.

Last week saw two Falls Church area schools honored for their academic achievements and celebrated their state and national rankings.

Separated by a couple miles along State Route 7, and high schools earned second and third best in the state rankings respectively in the U.S. News and World Report “America’s Best High Schools,” released last week.

Anglican worshipers at The Falls Church held their in the sanctuary Sunday and must be out of the building by Tuesday in accordance with a court ruling.

Congressman Jim Moran (D-8th District) sponsored a Wednesday that attracted about 50 people at the James Lee Community Center. The event gave small business owners the tools needed to expand their businesses into foreign markets.

A 50-year-old and hospitalized in Merrifield around 1 a.m. Friday. Fairfax County police said the woman was sexually assaulted and robbed of what cash she had on her. Police are still gathering information as they investigate the attack.

Police that traces back to Honduras and eight of those men were from Falls Church. Lindor Delis Martinez-Guevara, aka Lindo or Genero, 38, of Falls Church, is one of the leaders of the group and was charged with conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine in connection with the case. Hector Mauricio Amaya, aka Conejo or Kaubil, 36; Marvin Eduardo Escobar Barrios, aka Catracho or Garrobo, 37; Annelo Argueta Reyes, aka Nelo, 35; Julio Giovanni Nolasco, aka Puma, 18; Mario Benitez-Pineda, aka Chaparro or Cuzuco, 42; Angel Zelaya Lizama, aka El Diablo, 29; Fnu Lnu, aka Alex or Gordito and Martin Juarez-Lopez, 19, all of Falls Church were also charged.
