With an already busy schedule, Falls Church City Public Schools board member Joan Wodiska has been appointed to another position.
Last week, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) appointed Wodiska and four other citizens to the Task Force for Local Government Mandate Review. The group will review state mandates imposed on localities and to recommend temporary suspension or permanent repeal of such mandates as appropriate.
“I understand the challenge local governments face when trying to balance their budgets during complex financial times,” McDonnell said in a release. “This difficulty is exacerbated when the state places burdensome mandates on localities. As part of my continuing effort to support only justifiable and reasonable mandates on localities, I am pleased to create the Governor's Task Force for Local Government Mandate Review.”
Wodiska, former chair of the FCCPS board, is currently the board’s legislative liaison. This fall, Wodiska will become the president of he that represents all 134-school divisions in the commonwealth.
