Charter School Proposal Upsets Falls Church Parents

Parents wonder why Falls Church High is being overlooked.

A proposal for a new public charter school close to the has parents of students at the aging school upset, according to a story in The Washington Examiner.

The parents are in an uproar because they believe Falls Church High needs new programs and renovations. According to the story, parents believe the school would suffer more if the charter school is constructed. According to the story, parents say the school has been neglected by the Fairfax County School Board and would suffer more from the competition.

If the Fairfax Leadership Academy is approved by state and local officials, it would be home to an International Baccalaureate track and an Advancement Via Individual Determination program, which prepares low-income students for college in the ninth grade, according to the story.
