Fire Safety Event at Falls Church Home Depot

The Falls Church Home Depot store will host a safety event in celebration of October National Fire Safety Month. The event features safety tips and demos from local emergency personnel, vendor demos and activities for children including The Home Depot Kids Workshop where they will build and paint a Fire Rescue Helicopter from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The fire safety event also will feature local fire station #28. Participants will have the opportunity to experience a full tour of a fire truck and emergency vehicles. Additional activities include a demo of the local rescue helicopter, which will land at 10 a.m. on the top parking deck. Water, coffee and doughnuts will be available in the morning, followed by a lunch catered by Famous Dave’s. Gift bags also will be provided for participants.

All stores will host a fire safety workshop every Saturday in the month of October from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. The workshop will include the following:

  • Discover and remove fire hazards in your home during National Fire Safety Month and learn how to create an escape plan for your home
  • Find out what kind of fire extinguishers to install, where to place them and how to use them
  • Learn how to check smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and batteries and how to replace them
