Falls Church Gymnastics took third place at the National District Gymnastics Meet at Mount Vernon High School on Feb. 7 and fail to advance to the Northern Region Competition. Washington-Lee placed first, Edison second, Yorktown fourth, Mount Vernon fifth, and Wakefield sixth. The Top 2 teams from each District go to Regionals which are scheduled to be held at Lake Braddock Secondary School on Feb. 10.
Falls Church's Shannon Simmons placed first in All-Around individual competition, second in Vault, fourth in Bars, fourth in Floor, and seventh in Beam. Teammates Elena Johnson placed fifth in All-Around, third in Floor, fourth in Beam, fifth in Vault, and sixth in Bars; Carrie Murphy placed sixth in Floor and eighth in Beam.
