FCCPS Will Hold Final Public Budget Session

Board to vote on FY 2012 budget Feb. 15.

Tuesday night is the last time the citizens from the City of Falls Church can chime in at a meeting on the fiscal year 2012 budget at a Falls Church City Public Schools board meeting.

The meeting is slated to begin at 8 p.m. at City Hall following the board’s work session at 6 p.m. at the FCCPS Central Office. Tuesday’s meeting will be the third public meeting the board has held on the budget.

Board Chair Joan Wodiska has emphasized the need for public input throughout the budget process. Wodiska has said public input is critical because they are stakeholders in the schools.

The board will vote on the FY 2012 budget on Feb. 15.

Superintendent Lois Berlin presented her proposed FY 2012 budget on Jan. 11. Berlin presented the $37.7 million budget to the school board in city hall before a handful of the school system’s teachers. The school system is currently running on a $37.4 million budget.

-       FEB. 8 8 P.M. (CITY HALL)

-       Feb. 12 8:30 a.m. (Central Office/Work Session)

-       Feb. 15 7 p.m. School Board Budget Vote (City Hall)
