Manassas Park Too Much for George Mason [VIDEO]

Mustangs couldn't hold a seven-point halftime lead Thursday night.

The George Mason High Mustangs shot out of the gates early against visiting Bull Run District foe Manassas Park High on Thursday but managed to lose 53-45.

The Mustangs took a 31-24 lead into the half but the Cougars came out fighting.

“I told them at half time we had to come back,” Manassas Park Head Coach George Bailey said. “We made some adjustments and that helped. They played great after the half.”

The Cougars inched past the Mustangs in the third quarter, taking a 42-38 lead into the final quarter. A Sam Selby three-pointer put Mason up 43-42 with 5:48 left in the game, it wasn’t enough.

Myles Durr lead all scores with 15 points for Manassas Park and Douglas Leonard chipped in 9 points.

Nick Bourbeau led Mason with 11 points and Will Nunley, Elliot Mercado and George deMars each added 8 points.
