Mason Girls Advance to Bull Run Finals, Rematch With Central

Central only Bull Run team to beat Mustangs in four years.

It wasn’t easy but pulled off a 47-38 win over Madison County and will play Central-Woodstock in the Bull Run District Tournament championship game Friday at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle.

The Mustangs lost 51-50 to Central at home in January snapping a four-year Bull Run District winning streak. Ashley Alexander said she Mason didn’t come to play against Madison County and they can’t do the same against Central.

“We have to play better,” said Alexander who scored a game high 15-points. “We have to make sure we’re ready to play.”

Reigning Bull Run District Player of the Year Stephanie Cheney (14-points) said the road going forward will be a bumpy one. She said teams are going to play the Mustangs tough and physical and they’re going to have to respond.

“It’s just something we’re going to have to get used to,” Cheney said. “If we come out with energy against Central, I think we can win.”
