Mustangs Stampede into Richmond

Mason arrives in Richmond, stop for dinner before heading to VCU

After nearly two hours and about 100 miles later, the Mustangs have arrived in Richmond.

The players said they are used to the long bus trips since none of their opponents were close by this season. Junior Nate Ogle said the bumpy bus ride was exciting for him. In years past, he said he has taken the trip down Interstate-95 to see the girls play in the Virginia High School League tournament at Virginia Commonwealth University. Now that it’s his turn, he said he isn’t stressed.

“I’m just excited to play,” Ogle said before the team sat down to dinner at a Ruby Tuesday’s in Richmond. “It was a good bus ride and I got a good nap in, so I’m ready.”

Junior guard Noel Obusan, whose father drove the team bus to Richmond, said the long bus ride hasn’t jaded his focus. He said he is ready to tonight’s game and is looking forward to taking the court for the first time in his career in the state tournament at VCU.

“I’m feeling loose,” Obusan said. “I’m feeling good.”
