New Falls Church Preschool Needs a Mascot — Got Any Ideas?

Danny the Hippo. TJ Tiger, Tito the Husky and Mustang Sally seek a companion and racing competitor to represent Jessie Thackrey Preschool.

Falls Church City Public Schools would like to identify a new mascot for their newest school, Jessie Thackrey Preschool, and they're looking for suggestions.

FCCPS's other mascots — Danny the HippoTJ TigerTito the Husky and Mustang Sally — seek a companion and racing competitor to represent the Jessie Thackrey Preschool.

The Falls Church School Board voted unanimously to name the City's newest school Jessie Thackrey Preschool in honor of the beloved civic leader who passed away last fall at age 100. The school, which is undergoing major renovation on Cherry Street, is scheduled to open this fall.

Thackrey loved to visit with FCCPS schoolchildren. “We went to school at 9:00 and got out at four and I had to go 2-1/2 miles to school and I went to school in a horse and buggy,” she told a group of Thomas Jefferson Elementary students just a few months before her 100th birthday.
