REMINDER: West Potomac Academy, Alexandria Community Dance Present 'The Nutcracker'

The dance groups will perform a modern version of 'The Nutcracker' starting Thursday evening.

West Potomac Academy and Alexandria Community Dance will join together to present their fourth annual performance of The Nutcracker, the traditional holiday story with a modern twist. Performances will be Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1 at West Potomac High School.

West Potomac Academy’s dance students will participate in the entire production, both on stage and behind the scenes, and Advanced Dance students will have featured performances. The performance will include ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, and hip-hop dance and gymnastics.

More than 100 students from the Alexandria area auditioned to be a part of the performance. Students from Belle View, Fort Hunt, Hollin Meadows, Stratford Landing, Washington Mill, and Waynewood Elementary Schools, Sandburg Middle School and West Potomac High School are represented in the production. Performers range in age from four years old to adult.

Tickets for The Nutcracker are currently on sale, $10 for students and $12 for adults in advance. At the door, tickets for students are $12 and $15 for adults. For more information and tickets, visit www.Alexandriadance.com.

That's wonderful to see a student production. I even know some folks in the picture!
