The 14 seed Harvard University, led by head coach and Falls Church native Tommy Amaker, stunned No. 3-seed University of New Mexico 68-62 Thursday night and shook up the West Region in the process.

It was the first ever NCAA tournament win for Harvard. The Crimson faceoff against the six seeded University of Arizona Saturday night at 6:10 p.m. (EST).

Thursday afternoon before Harvard and New Mexico tipped off, Alma Amaker, mother of the Crimson’s coach, said, “They have to contain New Mexico’s center, shut down their three pointers and Harvard has to shoot more three pointers.” Guards Laurent Rivard (5-9 from three point range) and Christian Webster (3-5 from beyond the arch) made sure Harvard did well from downtown.
