With the 2011 season in their rearview, the Jaguars are excited about this season as they return 20 players with starting experience.

Third-year Head Coach Said Aziz said he is excited about the experience he has coming back. Aziz said the program overall bolsters better numbers than they have in his previous seasons at the helm with 110 players between the varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams.

“We have a number of kids out for football this year,” Aziz said. “This is the first time we’ve been able to take a picture with just the varsity team. Usually, we’d have varsity and junior varsity in a picture together.”

Aziz said his varsity team is stocked with a number of athletes on the offensive side of the ball. With nine starters returning on offensive, Aziz said his issue is how to get the ball in the hands of his playmakers.

“We have to get them the ball,” Aziz said. “We have a good group of kids. I think we might do a couple things this year.”

Junior receiver Jordan Coneys said his focus this year is getting a check in the win column for the Jaguars. The second year starter said the team’s attitude through camp this summer has been positive and upbeat, something he attributes to the team’s closeness and familiarity with each other.

“We’re more like a family now,” Coneys said. “I hope that helps improve our record.”
