SPEAK OUT: Did the 'Skins Give up Too Much to Move Up?

Tell Us: Should the 'Skins draft a franchise quarterback or fill another need?

The NFL Draft has finally arrived and the Washington Redskins are sitting in the No. 2 spot in the first round.

ESPN projects the 'Skins will select Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin, III. If RG3 comes to Washington, it will be the first time the Redskins have drafted a quarterback in the first round since Jason Campbell in 2005. Griffin threw for more than 4,000 yards and rushed for almost 700-yards last season while reaching the end zone 47 times.

The last time the Redskins drafted a Heisman Trophy winner was 20-years ago when Desmond Howard joined the team, according to the Washington Times.

But to move up in the 2012 NFL Draft, the 'Skins gave up a king’s ransom. To move into the St. Louis Rams’ spot, the Washington Times reported the 'Skins traded their first and second-round selections this year and their first-rounders in 2013 and 2014, to the St. Louis Rams for the second overall pick.

Tell us: Did the 'Skins give up too much to earn a higher spot and potentially draft a franchise quarterback? Let us know in the comments.

I really hope the Skins' take RG3 in the draft. I just hope the coaching staff knows what to do with a talent like that. The Skins' have not been known to work wonders at the QB position in a long time.

Clearly you need to draft RG3. There was no other reason to trade up like that and at that cost. Was it worthwhile?. We may not know for a few years. If, as expected, he turns into an elite QB, then it was definitely worth it, as teams don't go real far without a top level QB. If he is a bust, well they have shot themselves in the foot for a while. Given people's evaluations, it seems like a sensible gamble. Other needs can be more easily filled through free agency, trades, and later rounds of the draft. It is not often you get a changce to pick up a top QB.

Nice! I wonder who my Eagles will draft?

Cowboys fan who is impressed with the move. It is the right way to build a team and perhaps Mr Snyder is finally coming to his senses. Overpaying free agents is a great way to get buzz, but a horrible way to build a winning football team.

The man is physically and mentally game. Wish he played in my backyard.
