Video: Madison Remains Undefeated With Win Over Marshall

Still undefeated, Madison High School's Girls Varsity Lacrosse team moves on to district finals

A cross-town contest between the Madison and Marshall girls lacrosse teams on Monday night was competitive in its early minutes. But the Statesmen could not find an answer to the Warhawk's shooting power or strong defense as Madison prevailed 22-6 in the semi-final round of Liberty District playoffs at Marshall High School.

With the loss, Marshall High School's Girls Varsity Lacrosse ends the best season in program history  -- for either the boys or girls teams --  at 9-3.

Marshall played solid lacrosse throughout the game, but had a difficult time penetrating Madison's defense.

Warhawk defenders Molly Webb, Samantha Bentley and Katherine Hahne stopped numerous Statesmen scoring opportunities, while goalie Taylor Rivera-Silva had 5 saves.

Marshall's Rachel Waldron was the Statesmens' leading scorer for the evening with four goals.

Madison's Allison Hahn and Alex Condon were fierce in the midfield.  On defense and offense, the pair were too much for the Statesmen to handle.  Hahn had five goals and three assists to lead the Warhawk's offense, while Condon hit for six goals and contributed an assist.  Carly Frederick also scored three goals and one assist; Dana Beden had two goals and an assist; Sam Babbitt hit for two goals; and Brie Hayden, Megan Bisson, Julia Kehoe and Melissa Kellan each scored one goal. Bentley, Kellan, Kehoe and Katie Kerrigan also contrbuted an assist.

The undefeated Madison Warhawks will play Langley at  7 p.m. Thursday at Marshall High School: a rematch of sorts from last year's playoffs, when Langley prevailed over Madison to win the district's championship game.

All-District Honors (Liberty District) for girls lacrosse were recently announced and the First Team All-District players were recognized in a midfield ceremony following the Marshall-Madison game.

Both Madison and Marshall players were represented on the First Team, including:

Savannah Bentley -- Madison
Megan Bisson -- Madison
Alex Condon -- Madison
Allison Hahn -- Madison
Julia Kehoe -- Madison
Katie Kerrigan -- Madison
Taylor Rivera-Silva -- Madison
Annie Greenwood -- Marshall
Jessica Taylor -- Marshall
Rachel Waldron -- Marshall

Madison's Allison Hahn was awarded the All-District Player of the Year.   Madison coach Amanda Counts was recognized as All District Coach of the Year.

Second Team All-District players include  Sam Babbitt, Carly Frederick, Katherine Hahne, Melissa Kellan and Molly Webb from Madison; and Marshall players Kelly Brown and Meredith Crizer.
