Youth Football Players Step on Mason's Field for Summer Instruction
The second annual Falls Church City Football Association Camp running through Thursday.
George Mason High School head football coach Tom Horn and other area youth football coaches are out on the Mustangs home field this week working with young football players in the City of Falls Church on their skills.
The players range in age from seven to 14, and the camp is aimed at exposing them to high school level football drills and techniques that they will encounter as freshman Mustangs.
Monday through Thursday nights this week, Horn and his staff will show the youngsters from James Lee and other youth football programs around the field.

“At a small school in a non football town, we need all the connections we can get,” said Horn. “For these parents to really breathe life into this program is awesome."
The FCCFA is a non profit organization in Falls Church, with the goal of promoting youth football and building a community connection with coach Horn and the Mustangs. Parents and siblings were out in the stands watching the youngsters practice.

The City of Falls Church has no official youth football team, so kids either play in other towns or cities for other organizations or don’t break any pads in until they’re at Mason.
The drills are non contact, lasting two hours each night and are scheduled to go on “rain or shine,” according to the website.
2011 is the second annual pre season FCFAA camp.
“Last year it was all run by McLean football coaches,” Horn said. “This year Vienna has jumped right in, that’s always a sign of successful program when other people want to buy in.”
