Five Things You Need to Know

Music and the Falls Church Farmer's Market fill the weekend.

  1. On Saturday, the Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation will present Red, White, Blues & Banjos: A Celebration of Traditional American Music. Atwater and Donnelly, a Rhode Island husband and wife duo, will perform a concert as the first fundraiser for the 2013 Tinner Hill Blues Festival. They combine vocals with an array of instruments including the mountain dulcimer, old-time banjo, tin whistle, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, limberjacks, feet and more. The concert is located in the heart of Falls Church and the address will be given upon ticket purchase. Included in the $30 ticket price is a dessert buffet.   2. The Recreation and Parks Department is seeking volunteers to call bingo on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon at the Senior Center. Interested volunteers should call 703-248-5020 for more information and to sign up.
  3. It is now peak produce season, which means the Falls Church City Farmer's Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday with more than 40 vendors filling the City Hall parking lot.
  4. The in Falls Church is hosting $5 Comedy Night on Friday starting at 9 p.m. Doors open at 8 p.m.
  5. If your birthday is on Friday, you share it with actor Sylvester Stallone, the 43rd president of the United States, George W. Bush, and former First Lady Nancy Reagan. Happy Birthday!
