One Last Day of Summer: Still Time for All-You-Can-Eat Crab Meat

As seasons change, so do the ingredients in the pantry — summer dishes make way for fall plates. But there’s nothing like all-you-can-eat crab to bridge the gap.

Today, Saturday, Sept. 21, is the last day of summer. That means the first day of fall is tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 22. Patch has spent the past 24 days finding something for you to do each day as we counted down to the end of the summer.

Today, Friends of the Rappahannock will be hosting its annual Rappahannock Riverfest at Farley Vale Farm in King George. Tickets are $85 and must be purchased in advance (though you can pick them up at the will-call table). Their campaign is “Save the Blue Crabs, Then Eat ‘Em.”

Along with the Blue Crabs, there will be baby-back ribs, rotisserie chicken, an open bar, live music and a silent auction. Proceeds support advocacy and education programs, along with river restoration efforts.

While you’re in town, It’s going to be a busy weekend in Fredericksburg, with Welsh Fest, Via Colori Fest and more. Have fun, and we’ll see you in the fall!
