A new case of child abuse or neglect enters the Fairfax County Domestic & Juvenile Relations Court system once every 34 hours. These children need dedicated, caring advocates to help ensure that their best interests are represented in court.
That's where Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA volunteers, enter the picture. The CASA volunteer investigates a child's situation and speaks for the best interests of the child. Volunteers visit the children on their cases twice a month and interview social workers, therapists, teachers and other professionals, and gather information to report to court. Volunteers receive extensive training and are supervised by a professional staff.
If you seek a volunteer role with real purpose that can create real change, please attend Fairfax CASA’s upcoming information session on Saturday, August 25, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, at the Thomas Jefferson Library.
