The weekend is here! Get out and have some fun!

Get ready for some fun on FIRSTfriday in Falls Church! Join in on the fun with dining specials and retail discounts. December highlights include more than 30 artists exhibiting during the 4th Annual Holiday Show, tastings, yoga and more. Irish balladeer at Ireland's Four Provinces and even more musical performances at Dogwood Tavern, and Clare and Don's Beach Shack. All the details are here.

Deck the halls during the holiday season with special gifts from the annual Holiday Gift & Craft Show in Falls Church. More than 50 crafters and merchants show their wares at the Community Center (223 Little Falls St.) selling unique handmade items, baked goods, and more during the first weekend in December.

The $1 All-Weekend Shopping Pass is an excellent value! Children under 12 receive free admission. Lunch is sold each day of the event. 

Childrens Activities will be offered on Saturday, including an opportunity for Lunch with Santa. Children can also visit the Children's Holiday Shop at Cherry Hill Farmhouse to purchase inexpensive holiday gifts for their friends and family. Volunteers are on hand to help children make their purchases and wrap their gifts.

Wolf Trap Holiday Sing-a-Long: Sunday at 4 p.m., kick off the holiday season with family and friends at Wolf Trap’s 2013 Holiday Sing-A-Long! This annual musical celebration hosts a performance by the United States Marine Band and a Sing-A-Long of Christmas carols and Hanukkah songs with choir and vocal groups from the metropolitan Washington area.

Wolf Trap will be participating in Toys for Tots by collecting new, unwrapped toys at the entrance to the Filene Center before the Sing-A-Long. Donations are strictly voluntary and not a requirement.Admission is free, and no tickets are required. Parking is free, but limited, so please plan on arriving early.

Bring a candle and join the tradition of exiting the Filene Center with a candlelight processional during the last verse of “Silent Night.” There will also be a “Jing-A-Long” during the singing of "Jingle Bells," so remember to bring a candle, a bell, and a new, unwrapped toy!

Choruses participating in this year’s Sing-A-Long include the Capital Accord Chorus, Colvin Run Elementary School, Forestville High School, Good Shepherd United Methodist Chancel Choir, High Point High School Chorus, Idylwood Presbyterian Church Choir, Longfellow Middle School, Mount Vernon High School Melodious Majors, Mt. Zion Chancel Choir, St. Theresa School, Trinity Presbyterian Westminster Choir, and the UUCA TrUUbadours.

Winter Christmas Festival: On Dec. 7th, 9th, 14th, and 15th  from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m at Ticonderoga Farms. The festival at at 26469 Ticonderoga Road in Chantilly includes hayrides and firepits. More information.

Rededication of Our Holocaust Torah - Ceremony & Reception: Congregation Adat Reyim will rededicate their 200-year-old Holocaust Torah on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at 6500 Westbury Oaks Court, Springfield. Holocaust survivors and speakers from the Holocaust Museum will be among those who will present.

Bull Run Festival of Lights: Through Jan. 5, just off of Interstate 66 on Route 29 (Lee Highway) in Centreville. The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority says they expect to see more than 30,000 cars drive through the holiday light display before it ends Jan. 5. Find out more here.

Horse parade: Dec. 7, starts at 2 p.m. in the town of Clifton’s Main St. Visit Clifton for a horse parade, Christmas tree lighting ceremony, and candlelight homes tour. See a schedule of events on the town’s website.

Holiday Train Show: Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Dec. 8 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Fairfax Station Railroad Museum. The museum at 11200 Fairfax Station Road is hosting their 24th Annual Holiday Model Train Show with model trains on display and running.
