Sunset Cinema, Build Your Own Composter, Get Dirty, Warehouse Sale and Purple-Clad Kindergartners

A look at what's happening in Falls Church this weekend.

Take in sunset cinema with the kids at the showing of “Madagascar 3” in Cherry Hill Park at 8 p.m. on Friday.

Build your own tumbling composter on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Participants start the workshop with a pile of lumber, a pickle barrel and assorted screws and bolts. They leave with a fully functioning composter! The event costs $75 and takes place at the City of Falls Church Community Center, Senior Center Room, 223 Little Falls St. To participate, RSVP to Dan Schwartz, dan.schwartz@fairfaxcounty.gov or 703-324-1422.

Join the Chesterbrook Living Classroom work day from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. The living classroom is located within a reforestation area of native plants on property owned by Falls Church public utilities. Volunteers will assist with landscaping activities, including mulching and weeding. This is a family friendly activity. For more information, contact Shirley Street, sstreetland.design@gmail.com.

Think breezy painted furniture in blues, whites and bold colors at the Rough Luxe warehouse sale this weekend in Falls Church. The marketplace is held Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Stylish Patina Rough Luxe Warehouse, 138 W. Jefferson St.

Have a rising Mt. Daniel Elementary kindergartener? Join an informal playdate at Cherry Hill Park, weather permitting, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The park is located at 312 Park Ave. If you have a Mt. Daniel purple T-shirt or another purple shirt, wear it to help find group members.
