MY HAIR: I have African American hair, that may be softer than most. I've been natural for 6 years. I don't like that my hair always has static when I leave the salon, however, after wrapping my hair the first night the static is gone. I LOVE that my hair flows and is not heavy with products when I leave. My hair seems healthier now, then when I was going to the Dominican salon.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: The staff is friendly, however, there is little communication due to the language barrier. After a few visits the staff is more personable. The woman that styles my hair has always been pleasant and personable. They offer clients tea, coffee and snacks.

TIME: My first experiences wasn't great. However, it was the day prior to New Years, and the salon was packed,I was in there a total of 4.5 -5 hours. Every other experience has been about 2- 2.5 hours.

The salon also has a rewards program; every 6th visit you receive 10.00 off.

Sunshine Beauty Salon is a wonderful place to get your hair styled. They take better care of my African American hair than any Black or Dominican Salon I've ever visited. The staff is both knowledgable of natural hair care, and very friendly. Whenever I get my hair done here I receive countless compliments from jealous woman who are eager to have their hair transformed by the Sunshine Beauty Salon experience. Natural Beauty can not be rushed. My average time from beginning to end has been 2 hours.

This is one of the only places in the DMV where I have seen stylist roller set non permed african american hair. Its really amazing. But there is a HUGE downfall. The customer service is CRAP. If you dont get there 45 minutes before the shop opens plan on waiting a minimum of 4 hours. The roller set does not take long but if you want a flat iron you will be in there all day. The man that does the flat ironing is very inconsiderate of peoples time and stops for social breaks on every client. I have never seen such a thing in my life. No time management and no respect for the patrons.
