His intent was to kill, not to protect himself. Otherwise he would have took them down then calledRead More 911. No need at all for the subsequent shots. he's an angry. disturbed killer.

wow. almost all of these comments are so obviously written by woman haters, the kind of men andRead More women that just cannot stand to see a woman in a position of authority. i have just one question for all of you who think you have all the stats on Ms. Clinton, can any of you name the politician that was held responsible for the thousands of lives lost from Ground Zero? You want to talk about fools in government? Remember, this was not the first attack on the World Trade Center? Who let it happen? shame on all of you and your so called facts. your behavior is apparent. feeling sorry for all the women, young and old, who are part of your families. i bet you don't even let them vote or drive cars

It's hilarious to read the unwarranted, seething hatred displayed here for Hilary Clinton. I meanRead More I really despised your president shrubbery but I didn't make a fool out of myself, going on message boards and calling him a dirty bastard. You people need to get over yourselves and get a hobby other than hating for the sake of hating. You'll live a longer life!

The wealthy and powerful protecting their own. McDonnell made a shameful mess of the VA gov'sRead More office, a hurt that may last for decades. He ought to take his licks and move on, begging forgiveness from the electorate.

What kind of a stupid, malicious idiot would pull that sort of a prank? I agree that the kid whoRead More made the phone call to the SWAT team about his opposing video games player was a sore loser, which is why he did that, but he should be criminally prosecuted, made to pay the bill, and perhaps do some community service in order to pay off that big bill. Hopefully, that kid will learn a lesson if he is prosecuted for his prank, which he should be.
nascarblue April 24, 2014 at 07:24 am
this "to me" is not funny, the swat teams are used for serious issues, hostage taking,Read More etc. to have a swat team called to a home behind a video game is stupid, these swat members are trained to save lives, etc. to be called to a home behind a video game is not funny, what happens if a REAL call comes in and swat is needed there, I hope they catch the idiot that called swat and he gets what he/she deserves

And there you have it!!! At least he admits that he has no loyalty to America or our ConstitutionalRead More right to not be enslaved by our government...more than I can say for the politicians...and Jim, no one said "Europe" was a country, but I have found that liberals do have a reading comprehension problem, so there's that. Please expand on your "proper relationship between the people and their government" comment...are you from "Europe", Jim?
Jim Daniels April 23, 2014 at 04:58 pm
Now, I have always thought of George Washington as a pretty loyal American...between 1776 and 1788Read More he lived in a country without our present Constitution or Bill of Rights, and in fact was one of the most influential in devising our current Constitution. Would we say he was a disloyal American because he worked to replace the Articles of Confederation? No, or course not. As you may, or may not know, our current Constitution provides a mechanism for changing it either through congressional action or constitutional convention. If the majority of our fellow citizens wanted to change from the current three branch structure to something more akin to what they have in say Norway, Britain, or Canada the constitution provides a way to do that. In my opinion we should....just as George Washington, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin did...you wouldn't call them disloyal to America would you? As to my "Europeness," ...personally I was born here in the United States (New York). My ancestors arrived here starting in about 1623. I am directly descended from both Edward Hilton (one of the founders of New Hampshire), and John Winthrop (the founder of Boston). My last set of immigrant ancestors arrived here in 1851 from Ireland as the result of the Potato Famine. So I guess you could say that I am from "Europe"...at least a good portion of my DNA is. Now Kim...I'm wondering if you are really moving as you promised. This is not the first time claimed you were...back in September of 2013 you said "...We have lived near Merrifield for 17 years now and are moving because of the exact same issues you raised." This was referencing a comment by another person regarding the "influx of illegal aliens." So first Kim, are you moving because of the high taxes, or because of the illegals...and second...why is it taking so long? Home values are way up...certainly you could have sold your home and found another by now! Makes me wonder if you are telling the truth!
Jake Burke April 23, 2014 at 05:02 pm
Michael, while I agree with you that we should try to vote these tax & spend pols out of office,Read More I fear that there are now to many liberal wackcos here, many who poured in from Maryland, for us to be successful. But, we have to try.

TO THE EDITOR....I'm seriously disappointed by the removal of peoples comments overnight.... If youRead More cannot see the flow and context of comments made,, how is one supposed to understand the comments you read? When you invite unfettered comments from people on a forum such as this,, CENSORSHIP HAS NO PLACE. You either put on your big boy/girl panties and allow Free Speech to run it's course,,, of you SHUT THIS DOWN. I'm so surprised at your actions. Not good!

Whatever the penalty is needs to be 4 times more severe. The liberals always want to play with theseRead More people which enables and encourages them to see what they can get away with. Liberals always want to turn the other cheek and the law breakers use it for motivation.

Everyday Mathematics is just one of the programs that makes a heck of a lot of $ off of the millions of textbooks sold to schools that teach to the 'Core.' The Common Core isn't just restricting for teachers & students, it's lining people's pockets.

--About The Process Fact: No teachers were involved in writing the standards. No teachers haveRead More claimed responsibility for any of the ELA standards. The entire development process was non-transparent; there are no public records showing comments and suggestions received, or any actions taken or changes made. Fact: The standards are not based on research or evidence. The curriculum study of high-performing countries on TIMSS covered only grade 1 to grade 8. The NAEP frameworks for assessing mathematics, reading, and writing are not for curriculum in English language arts. The reading document explicitly indicates this. --About Implementation Fact: The standards tell teachers what kinds of texts to teach in English language arts—i.e., how to organize their classroom curricula—and in mathematics how to approach teaching geometry, for example. Fact: Teachers are being left to implement the standards with little support or guidance. That is why they are asking for a moratorium on Common Core in many states. Fact: The standards are being implemented through No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and newer federal programs, signifying that the federal government will be leading them. Flexibility waivers from NCLB, granted by the federal government to over 40 states, effectively require states to use Common Core standards. Fact: Most states committed to the Common Core State Standards as part of the Race to the Top grant application. In return, they were supposed to be given evidence of international benchmarking for these standards. However, they have not been given the names of these countries or crosswalks showing comparisons of standards at each grade level. Fact: These standards are intended to lead to a national curriculum for our schools. Bill Gates has said so explicitly. Further, the standards contain explicit guidelines for the amount of time to be allotted to informational reading, use an experimental approach to teaching Euclidean geometry, and expect all students in a class to be taught to the same set of standards for the entire academic year. No acceleration is encouraged or desired. Fact: The Common Core State Standards initiative has never been state-led, and states are not finding it easy to withdraw from the commitments made by their state boards of education, governors, and commissioners of education. In addition, plans are already being made to eliminate local school boards in favor of regional school boards controlled by the federal government. The federal government will monitor what states do through its waiver-granting process and the Common Core-based assessments developed by the federally-funded assessment consortia. No mechanism exists for revising Common Core’s standards. Fact: The assessments based on the Common Core State Standards are intended to result in a national database on all students. While the standards do not in themselves require data collection, data are to be collected as part of administering the Common Core assessments, and the consortia are legally obligated to transfer individual student-level data to the federal government. http://pioneerinstitute.org/download/claims-and-facts-about-common-core/?utm_source=Common+Core+Validation+Apr+23+2014&utm_campaign=Common+Core+Val+April+23+2014&utm_medium=email

FOR THOSE WHO LIKE AMAZON PRIME OVER NETFLIX: Here's an interesting article from today (23 Apr 2014)Read More about how Amazon Prime just got HBO to stream at least some of its older content, plus "HBO GO," to Amazon's new Fire TV box, thereby making NetFlix upset because NetFlix (nor any other streaming service, including HULU) has never been able to get any HBO content; and so Amazon has scored a real coup! Sorry, Autistic boy, but there are a multitude of crimes here. These so called 'friends' abused youRead More terribly ~ called 'bullying', & that alone cannot be tolerated. I agree with B. Dub 100%! How was this kid able to scale a fence and just walk right over to theRead More plane? TSA: for all the harassing you do in the terminal...you ain't all that!! As far as the kid being a runaway..maybe he does face some serious abuse issues at home. He's damn lucky to be alive. But, I raised three boys, and a 16 year old boy can runaway for any collage of reasons. My kids never ran away but, I'm wondering if the fact that the plane was going to HAWAII has anything to do with it. It sounds a little compulsive to me. CPA need good follow up on this. Thank you lucky stars kid!
