Mason Kicker Signs With Georgetown University

Henry Darmstadter considered Tulane University and Harvard University before signing with the Hoyas.

When Henry Darmstadter arrived at George Mason High School five years ago, he had never played organized football. Tuesday, the second team All Bull Run District player signed to continue his football career at Georgetown University. Darmstadter, who will compete for a kicking job for the Hoyas, joins Stephen Lubnow as the second player in as many years from Mason to go onto to play at a NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) school. Georgetown plays in the Patriot League. “They said when I come in I have a chance to compete,” the 5 feet 7 inch tall, 165 pound Darmstadter said. Falls Church Area Football Players Pick up Honors

Several football players earn district and region honors.

The 2012 high school football season is over but some athletes from the Falls Church-area picked up some awards. Falls Church High finished with the best record amongst the four area high schools at 3-7. Junior wide receiver Jordan Coneys picked up first team All National District and second team All Northern Region honors. Coneys was joined on the National District’s first team by JEB Stuart High’s Hector Hernandez who earned honors as both an offensive and defensive lineman. Congrats on your honors, guys. I remember when I was in high school and won various honors. It's a great feeling and in order to keep earning honors and awards and wins on the field, you must work hard in the off season. Mason’s Lubnow Heading to William & Mary

Stephen Lubnow went to bed Tuesday night with a clear mind for the first time in a while. For weeks, the George Mason High senior has weighed his options of places to play college football and Lubnow has now finally committed to the College of William and Mary. Lubnow will head to the Tribe as a walk-on this summer. “I know it’s going to be a lot different and a lot faster,” Lubnow said Wednesday afternoon at Mason. “I’ll have to keep working hard over the summer so I show up in shape ready to work.” Lubnow is the sixth football player from Mason to reach the Division I-AA (Football Championship Series) level or higher in the Tom Horn era.
