Falls Church City Police have released a description of a man they’re looking for who reportedly stabbed another man near the W & OD Trail on May 14. In their weekly report Tuesday, police said the alleged suspect demanded cash from the victim before the stabbing. The victim was taken to a local hospital in a private vehicle and treated and released, according to the release. Police say the man is between 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed between 150 and 180 pounds. The man was also allegedly wearing a black mask with blue and green around the eyes. Falls Church Police are still investigating the May 14 attack near the W & OD Trail.
It’s been a week since a man was stabbed near the W & OD Trail in Falls Church, and police are still looking the alleged suspect. Police say the stabbing was an isolated case and have increased foot, bicycle and motorcycle patrols at the intersection of Grove Ave. and the trail. Monday, people walked and biked through the area as if nothing ever happened in the area. “That’s crazy that somebody got stabbed over here,” said Peter Clark of Arlington who stopped biking where the stabbing took place for a rest Monday afternoon. The victim and another man argued before the stabbing took place. Police said the victim was stabbed in the hand and was rushed to a local hospital in a private car. Falls Church City Police are still looking for a man who stabbed another man Tuesday in an altercation near the W & OD Trail. George Mason High School and Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School delayed dismissing their students as a precaution. Witnesses gave varying stories of the alleged attack and police have no description of the alleged suspect. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 703-241-5053. Falls Church city police responded to two events on Sunday, which was Cinco de Mayo. A 41-year-old Silver Spring, Md., man was charged with being drunk in public in the 200 block of North Washington Streeet, and a 28-year-old Falls Church man was charged with driving under the influence in the 6700 block of Wilson Boulevard. No other incidents were reported Sunday. In separate and unrelated incidents: A 46-year-old Potomac Falls man was charged with driving under the influence and refusal on April 29 in the 400 block of West Broad Street. A 47-year-old Dumfries man was charged with violating the city’s noise ordinance on April 30 in the 6600 block of Wilson Boulevard. Carlos Guillermo Suarez Diaz will be in court for arraignment May 14.
Police on Friday arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in March in a Falls Church parking lot while he was cross-dresssed. Carlos Guillermo Suarez Diaz, 46, of Falls Church, was charged with a count of misdemeanor sexual battery and released on a summons. He s scheduled to appear in Falls Church Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for arraignment on May 14. Tips from residents and video images from area businesses led to the arrest, according to a news release. Diaz is accused of groping a 17-year-old woman on March 13 in the 100 block of East Broad Streeet while wearing black shorts, high heels, a black handkerchief to cover his mouth and a black wig with red and golden highlights. Falls Church city police are looking for two people who they say beat two people inside a business Sunday night in the 6700 block of Wilson Boulevard. Around 10:30 p.m., the suspects—a woman who went by the name “Lien” and a man who goes by “Si”—walked into the business and beat the two unidentified victims, according to a news release. Police said Lien and Si fled the scene in a white Lexus SUV with Maryland tags. Neither victim needed medical attention. The victims knew of Lien and Si in a limited capacity, according to the news release. Lien is described as an Asian woman standing about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. A 44-year-old Falls Church man was arrested in Fairfax County for failing to show up in court in the city. Falls Church City Police say the man was supposed to appear in General District Court on April 17 to answer to the charge of possession of false ID. Police said the man also violated his release condition from a prior arrest on April 1. In separate and unrelated incidents:A 24-year-old Annapolis, Md. man was served an outstanding warrant for failure to comply with a court order stemming from a DWI conviction on Dec. 12.

Falls Church City Police served warrant against an Arlington man who is charged with hit and run, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license last week. Dana Mitchell, 50, is accused of hitting a car in the 200 block of Great Falls St. in the City of Falls Church on April 21. Police in Falls Church said Mitchell, who is still being held at the Arlington County Adult Detention Center on $2,000 bond, allegedly hit the car and it is not known if alcohol played a role in the accident. Police said the alleged victim charged the man with malicious wounding after the man stabbed the victim and disconnected a telephone to police.
A 67-year-old Falls Church man was arrested Thursday and charged with malicious wounding and malicious prevention of emergency communication. Police said John M. Schmelzer stabbed an unidentified person inside his home in the 200 block of N. Maple Ave. and disconnected the phone when the alleged victim tried calling 9-1-1. According to a press release, police were able to trace the interrupted phone call to Schmelzer’s home. When police arrived at Schmelzer’s home, they found him arguing with the unidentified victim. The alleged victim was treated and released from a local hospital. Bail information for Schmelzer was not immediately available Tuesday evening.

Falls Church City Police are looking for the man who allegedly hit a woman in the head and sexually assaulted her at about 5 a.m. on April 22. Police said the woman reported the alleged incident to them a day after it happened and initially said the assault happened between the 100 and 200 blocks of S. Washington St. After the woman was questioned, police said the woman told them the incident actually happened in the 100 block of W. Annandale Rd. as she walked to her car in a parking lot behind her home. The woman reported that a man hit her in the head causing her to fall to her knees.
