Federal Employees Granted Excused Absence for Delayed Arrival Monday

OPM recommends employees remain off road until 9 a.m. due to predicted icy conditions.

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) said Federal agencies in the Washington, D.C. area will open Monday, Jan. 23, under an 11:00 a.m. delayed arrival, due to expected icy conditions. "Employees have the option for unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework," said the online notice. OPM recommends Federal employees remain off the road until 9:00 a.m. The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory through 6 a.m. Monday for the metropolitan D.C. area, including Fairfax County. Freezing rain will turn to rain Monday, as temperatures climb into the high 40's, predicts the National Weather Service. Federal Government offices will open to the public at 11:00 a.m.
