J.E.B. Stuart celebrated its 51st commencement on Thursday at Robinson Secondary School, as 370 students graduated from the class of 2012 and brought their high school careers to a close. Included in those numbers are 58 National Honor Society members and 47 International Baccalaureate diploma candidates. For the first time, the ceremony offered family members live translation via headphones into four languages. Often recognized for its diverse demographics, Stuart students represent more than 80 countries. Several newly minted alumni shared their feelings, and while most claimed to be experiencing a mixed bag of emotions, there was an overlying sense of excitement. Four Falls Church-area high schools to graduate seniors over the next week.
Graduation season is upon us and four Falls Church-area high schools will send hundreds of seniors off into the world. The first school to graduate its seniors will be George Mason High. Seniors will graduate June 13 at 5 p.m. from Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. J.E.B. Stuart High will hold their graduation on June 14 at 6 p.m. at the Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax. George C. Marshall High’s graduation will also be held at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. starting at 10:30 a.m. on June 15. Finally, Falls Church High will hold their graduation at the Patriot Center on the campus of George Mason University on June 20 at 9:30 a.m.

Stuart High School, Principal Pamela Jones has held her fair share of positions since starting off her career as a special education teacher in October of 1978. Holding titles such as ID department chair and Special Education department chair, as well as acting assistant principal up until her current position as principal. Ironically enough, Jones attended Falls Church High School as a student. When offered the job at Stuart, her initial reaction was, “but that’s my rival high school!” “All I could hear in the back of my head was my dad saying, ‘Pam, you need a job,’” Jones said. “As soon as I took the job at J.E.B.
