Alleged suspect may be involved in similar crimes in Fairfax County.
Falls Church police still are still looking for a man they say grabbed a woman’s buttocks and did not let go until she screamed in October. The man approached the woman while she walked pushing her baby carriage near the intersection of South Maple Avenue and Gibson Street around 4 p.m. on Oct. 19. Fairfax County believe the same man may be connected to several similar attacks in their area stretching from September to as recently as Nov. 1 in the Springfield area. Police ask the community to be aware of your surroundings: Anyone with information about the possible suspect should call Detective Richardson at 703-248-5238. The following incident and arrest information was supplied by the Falls Church police department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a 40-year-old woman Friday in the City of Falls Church. At 4:23 p.m. that day, police said the man walked up behind the woman as she walked with a baby stroller near the intersection of South Maple Avenue and Gibson Street. Police said the man grabbed the woman’s buttocks and did not let go until she screamed. Police are looking to see if this alleged suspect is connected to five or six similar incidents that happened in Fairfax County in September. The man is described as being a short, skinny Hispanic male standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall. Police said the man has a short haircut and may now be clean-cut, having shaved off his beard. The convicted child molester was sentenced Friday for sexually assaulting girls who spent the night at his daughter's sleepover.
Falls Church resident Michael Gardner, convicted in May of molesting two girls during his daughter’s sleepover birthday party last year, was sentenced Friday morning to 22 years in prison. The girls who attended the party, held in June 2011, were ages 9 and 10. Judge Benjamin Kendrick gave Gardner, husband of former Falls Church mayor Robin Gardner, all of the 22 years a jury recommended earlier this year. Gardner and his wife, who were surrounded by family and supporters in a packed courtroom, appeared stoic when they heard the sentence. Second reported sexual assault in Merrifield since May
Fairfax County Police are looking for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman Sunday night in Merrifield. Officer Bud Walker, a police spokesperson, said the woman was walking along the 7600 block of Lee Highway when a knife-yielding man forced her into some nearby brush around 11 p.m. Walker would not say where the woman was going or if she was hospitalized. The alleged suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s with short black hair who was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans. This is the second reported sexual assault since May reported in Merrifield. On May 11, a 50-year-old woman was attacked by two men around 1 a.m. in the 2400 block of Gallows Road near the W&OD Trail. The woman was hospitalized after the attack. Walker …
